Bamboo silk is made from the cellulose of the bamboo plant. Cellulose is a complex carbohydrate that is the main component of plant cell walls. The cellulose from bamboo is processed and spun into the yarn used to knot bamboo silk rugs. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants, so bamboo is considered a highly renewable resource for rug making. Bamboo silk is soft, plush and has a similar sheen to real silk.
